Raccoons are easy to identify due to their distinctive black masks and ringed tails. They seem to be active at night; however some people have seen then at day time where they come outside in search of food. In winter, they like to stay most of the time in their dens, but they do not hibernate. They are omnivorous; it means they consume different kinds of foods. Typically they adjust their diet according to the situation and environment.
Anyhow, we are sharing a list of foods that they like to consume throughout their life span.

Vegetation
Vegetables and fruit are some of their favorite foods. They consume fruits on a daily basis. These fruits include apple, cherries, and barriers when they are easily accessible and available; otherwise, they can rely on other food like green vegetables, etc. they also like to eat nuts like acorns and beechnuts in cold winter months. They also can many types of seeds and grains. Raccoons that lived in the urban area near to the fields or houses where humans have planted gardens, they like to eat corn when they find it. Anyhow, they can eat anything that is available to them.
Animals
Raccoons mostly like to live in open habitat. Raccoons that lived in the wild they usually like to eat animals. The animals they can eat are a frog, turtle, and small fishes. The other animals they can eat if they ever find them are: rats, mice, bat, and rabbits. If they ever got the chance to catch, then they can also like to prey on duck and birds that they can catch easily. The other types of animals that can be part of their food are snakes, fish, and freshwater mussels. According to a report raccoons usually like to consume animals in the winter while in the summer they prefer to eat vegetables and fruits.
Other food
Although they can eat anything that is in front of them or they got the chance to eat them. They can also eat turtle and duck eggs, and any other animal egg that they can find in open habitat as they are the way to get enough nutrition for their self. When they find nothing to eat, then earthworms and other insects become the source of their food. Raccoons that lived near to the urban areas they are often found to be eating grains and corn. They can also eat the leftover food of cats and dogs, and if they got the chance, they could attack the bird feeders to eat their food.
Raccoons that lived within homes or near to homes they are also seen to be consuming the garbage. If you place the garbage in an open container, then it can be a source of food for the raccoon. They make their way to get into your house; they may enter through the open holes and gaps and may decide to live into your house if they food good food over there. They can also eat dead animals to fill their belly.
